Faith Walk Community Fitness Park in Coeur d'Alene includes a children's playground, gazebos, volleyball courts, a soccer field, a perimeter Bible walk, and other landscaped community spaces. We built several fences throughout the property, including the Buckley Steel Board fence around the ball-field area.
Have you ever seen a Buckley Steel Board fence around a park? Neither had we—but the Faith Walk Community Fitness Park in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho turned out to be a perfect setting for it.
One of the biggest challenges was working around underground utilities. Roughly 40% of the project was located within utility easements, which required careful planning and coordination as we laid out and installed the fence.
The soccer and ball-field areas presented an interesting design challenge. Since the fence wasn't intended to contain animals, traditional gates weren't necessary.
Thanks to our customer's idea, we created open entrances with sections of fence set back from the opening. This allowed people to easily walk through while helping keep balls from escaping the field.
The landscapers finished the entrances with pavers, tying the fence and walkways together cleanly.
Buckley Steel Board isn't something you typically see around a public park, but it turned out beautifully here.
The clean lines and durable construction complement the park while providing a long-lasting fence for a heavily used public space. The rail-fence appearance adds a distinctive finished look compared with a basic chain-link perimeter.
